Our school is complete – it has the first and the second grade or stage.. Pupils from age of 6 years to the age of 15 years can attend our school. The both grades (the first as well as the second grade) are available for the pupils. Actually there are 433 pupils in our school. Three foreign languages – English, German and French – are teached in school. We´re interested in foreign cooperation with other schools.
We believe this cooperation is able to increase pupils´ and teachers´ interest in studying languages and also it can bring to the classrooms a kind of european dimension. School projects and activities present the best way for strengthening and consolidating of friendly atmosphere in school.
We aspire to be friendly and active school in our region. Our school has been involved in the project for the following reasons – to enable pupils to learn about a different culture that is part of a common European culture, to build pupils’ awareness of basic European values, to enable pupils to improve their knowledge of English in practice, to complete school subjects by teaching about history and art and topics that are part of our project. We have experience with project from the European Union, we have participated in the EDISON project (AISEC OL.) and in e-twinning project -the Voices of the Great War. At our school, there is a very talented team of teachers, who like to learn new things, who is flexible and able to lead demanding projects.
We have successfully completed projects from the EU, we are able to communicate and organize teaching with students from foreign countries. Teaching history, cultural belonging and foreign languages is one of the main goals along with the environmental education of our educational program.

The Escola Básica D. João I is a public school located in a village near the capital city Lisbon, in the south riverside of Tagus. It is mainly an urban, residential and multicultural village, in which we can find a mixture of knowledge and cultures from different countries. Around 530 pupils attend this school with an average 10-17 years old students, organized among 20 classes.
A great majority of our students have their own roots in African countries, due to the fact of our History and its strong relationship with these African ex-colonies in the past.
We have also other three primary schools with about 400 students, organized in 17 classes. All the schools have 70 teachers lecturing. Furthermore, the schools are ruled by the headmaster, a deputy director and two assistant teachers. ‘For a citizen’s school’ is the theme of our Educational Project and its main aim is the social inclusion since school is the place where students are formed to be citizens in the future.
We are focused in students’ rights/duties to be ensured in their lives so, we work out, mainly, the social values as an important topic in their future lives, which will certainly help them to prepare students to be a citizen aware of their rights, duties and the equality of opportunities and in this way to ‘build up’ a well conscience fullness of a personal, social and scientific individual.
Our school, “Istituto Comprensivo Statale De Amicis-da Vinci”, it is situated in Caserta, a town with a population of about 80,000 inhabitants, not far from the city of Naples, in the south west of Italy. It is a state Institute, it includes an infant school with 16 teachers, 147children ( from 3 to 5 ) divided into 6 sections; a primary school with 65 teachers, 480 pupils (from 6 to 11) divided into 28 classes and a secondary school of first grade with 39 teachers, 240 students (from 12 to 14) divided into 14 classes. In the secondary school students can learn playing an instrument choosing among piano, violin, drums or flute.
The majority of our students comes from middle-class families and don’t have particular problems in learning, but some of them come from problematic economical and/or social contexts, some children don’t speak well Italian, others have relational and/or learning disturbances. The aim of the school is to guarantee each of them to grow up developing knowledge, abilities and competences respecting their needs, their attitudes and potentials, according to the requests of their families.
So we try to adapt the national program to specific demands adopting flexibility in contents and methods, promoting integration, searching for new strategies, including extra school activities, etc. The school is interested to the theme of the project because we want : to raise awareness in our students about the importance of having solid cultural roots before becoming responsible European. Citizens; to build their knowledge about their own territory and let them share it with the others; to learn more about other Countries; to find common values in meeting other people; to improve English as vehicular language.
